Myrinet Cluster Expansion Card (StFF)

Model: 73P6000

Myricom Myrinet - Network adapter - PCI-X

Myrinet is a packet-communication and switching technology that is used to connect clusters of servers and computers. Myrinet clusters provide high-data-rate and low-latency interconnections that allow complex computations to be distributed across a tightly coupled array of hosts. Clustered resources provide high availability since computations can be performed with a subset of the hosts using interconnections that are capable of detecting and isolating faults, and of setting up alternative communication paths as a response to failure. Myrinet clusters out-perform clusters built using conventional networking technology due to an enhanced feature set. The Myrinet Cluster Expansion Card is connected to an ANSI/VITA 26-1998 compliant network infrastructure through a pass-thru module, such as the IBM Eserver BladeCenter Optical Pass-thru Module, on the BladeCenter unit. Communication signals are routed from the Myrinet Cluster Expansion Card through the blade server to the I/O module in I/O-module bay 4 in the BladeCenter unit.
