The 7206-005 is an external stand-alone 4 mm DDS-2 DAT tape drive that operates in streaming mode and attaches to the IBM RS/6000 via a standard SCSI cable.The 7206 provides low-cost save/restore functions for migrating files from other 4 mm-based workstations and systems and uses a media recognition feature that allows the data to be written only on data-grade tape cartridges.
