Two Cisco Mechanical Interface Cards (MIC) (MIC A and MIC B) are required to operate the Cisco ONS 15327 if you are using XTC-28-3 cards and/or you need redundant power inputs. The MICs provide power connection points, physical interfaces for DS-1s and DS-3s, and external timing and alarm interfaces.
