The new Catalyst 1924F will provide 24 10BaseT ports and two 100BaseFX ports - all in a compact, single rack unit (RU) chassis at prices that make it the most cost-effective solution for linking the wiring closet to a fiber backbone. With this latest addition, Cisco has boosted its comprehensive line of desktop-switched 10 Ethernet switches, which hold the number-one market position in desktop 10-Mbps Ethernet switching.As with the rest of the Catalyst 1900 family, the Catalyst 1924F is available in both Standard and Enterprise Editions. Standard edition Catalyst 1900 switches feature built-in support for Domain Name Service (DNS) and Dynamic Host Control Protocol (DHCP). They can be upgraded with the purchase of an optional enterprise edition Software Upgrade Kit.The Catalyst 1924F Enterprise Edition includes all the features of the standard edition, with additional support to ease the administration and scalability of multiple switches in large, distributed networks. Additional features include enhanced security via TACACS+, multiswitch autoconfiguration through a boot server, and common management via the widely used Cisco IOS command-line interface (CLI).
