The TRACER Protection Switch is designed to provide TRACER users the comfort of radio redundancy for critical links. When placed between two rackmount TRACER units, the TRACER Protection Switch provides monitored, automatic hot-standby switching from one radio in an alarm condition to another standby radio that is using the same antenna. This standby function keeps the link operational when a primary radio fails, and allows the user to restore the primary service at their own convenience. The TRACER Protection Switch will operate with TRACER T1 spread spectrum equipment in either the 2.4 GHz or 5.8 GHz Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) bands.A single VT100 connection through the TRACER protection switch provides access to both the primary and secondary TRACER units. The TRACER Protection Switch is housed in a compact 1U (1.75 inch) chassis designed to be co-located with the TRACER Baseband Processor and Rackmount Radio Frequency Converter. The Protection Switch can be deployed at one or both ends of a TRACER microwave link. Like TRACER digital spread spectrum microwave radios, the TRACER Protection Switch is designed and manufactured by ADTRAN with the most current technology, and incorporates ADTRAN's ISO 9001 manufacturing processes, to provide the highest levels of reliability and durability.
