The IBM 7206 Model 220 External 4mm DDS-4 Tape Drive offers the improved capacity, advanced performance, and high reliability required in a data storage solution for the IBM RS/6000 family of workstations and servers. The IBM 7206 Model 220 is a stand-alone external 4mm cartridge tape drive that provides a native media capacity of 20 GB per cartridge and a sustained data transfer rate of 21.6 GB per hour. Using Digital Data Storage (DDS), you can achieve a media capacity of 40 GB with 2:1 compression (depending on the characteristics of the data transferred) and a data transfer rate of up to 3.0 MB/sec for unattended save and restore applications. In addition to reading and writing on new 20 GB 4mm tape cartridges, the 7206 Model 220 also reads and writes on other DDS-2 and DDS-3 tape cartridges. By providing an excellent migration and interchange path from other 4mm tape drives, the 7206 Model 220 is a cost-effective and efficient RS/6000 storage solution.
