The Cisco RPS 675 supports internal power supply redundancy for up to six Cisco networking devices and features an innovative power architecture that provides customers with an immediate failover capability. The Cisco RPS 675 incorporates a quick failover feature, ensuring customers that the connected device will not reboot in the event of an internal power supply failure. For example, if an internal power supply fails on one of the six connected devices, the Cisco RPS 675 automatically senses the failure and delivers uninterrupted power to that device. When a failure is detected, the Cisco RPS 675 sends status information showing that the other connected devices will not be supported until the failed device is restored or replaced. This status information can be monitored through CiscoWorks 2000 and the Cisco Cluster Management Suite (CMS) Software that provides Web-based network management. To achieve one-to-one redundancy, each device must be connected to a separate Cisco RPS 675. The Cisco RPS 675 can be deployed in a variety of situations to ensure network resiliency for mission-critical customer applications. In the rare event of a switch internal power supply failure, the Cisco RPS 675 ensures seamless voice/data network operation without interruption. In this scenario, multiple switches with inline power are supported by the Cisco RPS 675. The switches are connected to PCs and are used to power IP phones.
